The UF Herald spoke to Liberatore last night about his recent season-ending ACL injury, sustained early in last weeks match.
“Yeah look earlier in the season Ryan Griffen III came in to talk about the terrifying impact that ACL injuries have on young sportsman’s careers.” Liberatore explains.
“That whole speech profoundly affected me. It made me realise how many things in the world I still haven’t tackled yet. I look foward to it though. Once the doctors have chased it down I’m sure we can at least force a contest, if not win it outright. I’ll definately be back on the field soon.
“The coaching staff did have a bit of a word to Libbers. We tried to talk him out of it. Told him that the concept of injury isn’t something you can just pin to the ground” explained midfield coach Terry Wallace. “You need a plan, and lots of time. I mean, some things just can’t be solved by tackles.”
“Then he tackled me”
When asked what he plans to do on his journey to recovery, Liberatore looked bouyant. “Oh there’s still plenty of things I’ve yet to tackle. Depression, the joys of fatherhood, and the ever growing antipathy of our coach. Also I hear Adelaide Zoo has some new Panda’s.”
