Summary

The Defenestrators paid a steep price to move up 5 places to claim Sam Walsh – Prestia almost averaged 100.

But no need to overthink this. Walsh will be a surefire keeper for the team in pink for as long as they will it. That’s a great place to be following a draft.

Solid veteran selections in Suckling and Harbrow repeatedly appeared for the perennial finalists. Perryman and Cousins added to their young stocks, with Cousins later flipped in a great trade for Joel Selwood and David Mundy. Will Brodie didn’t play many games, but he had some big games, and is an intriguing prospect moving forward. Peter Wright clearly has a special place in Paul’s heart.

There isn’t much of note beyond this (McKenna finished the year in exceptional form, but had long since departed this list. Motlop garnered some scorn on draft day, but one can’t expect the world at pick 136). But it doesn’t matter. They got Walsh, and several other useful contributors.
