GAME OF THE ROUND
No shortage of options this week, as the entire top 6 face-off against one another. I’m rolling with the Sparkles taking on the Soliders for the simple reason that it’s one of the few games where the Soliders may be challenged.
Both teams are coming off wins in round 4, where they each scored 1871. It’s tight folks.
For the Sparkles, Noah Anderson found form in an explosive manner last week. The Soldiers have lost Sam Docherty and Toby Nankervis, and had to ship out Jordan De Goey mid-week to shore up the defence. Are the stars aligning for a Sparkles upset this weekend?
SNEAKY INTERESTING MATCHUP
With apologies to the Defenestrators and Threat Level Midnight, I’m going with my own horse taking on the Lethal Vipers.
The Vipers top scored across the league last week, and are once again flying under the radar as they build towards a third consecutive finals appearance. Their defence was outstanding last week, with three players topping 120. And that doesn’t include Luke Ryan, the top scoring defender not named Nick Daicos so far this season.
On the other side of the fence are the Roughnecks, who are fresh off a dramatic trade that’s recalibrated their midfield and expectations for season 2023. Are they in the mix, or still on the fringes? Results this week may prove illuminating.
