Summary
Their first rounder was a bust for season 2019, but the Hannebery selection may look better in a year’s time.
There wasn’t much gained from the back half of the draft either, with handy Swan George Hewett (who went in round 1 in the 2018 pre-season draft) the only selection having several solid showings.
But rounds 2 through 9 were very good for the Scourers. Miles, Papley, Walker, Jones and Stanley were all mainstays in the best 22. While Walker’s scores were mediocre, the others all delivered head-to-head averages of over 80. That’s great value.
And that doesn’t even cover the two best scorers they snared in that range. Jack Graham wasn’t able to get on the field all that often, but he scored well when he did put on a Scourer guernsey. He’s a potential long-term keeper.
Ellis-Yolmen was able to take the field 5 times to Graham’s 4, and scored at a similar rate. The Scourers will be hoping for more appearances from both as they push to return to finals in 2020.
